Bogotá

24 hours in any city isn’t enough to do it justice but having heard amazing things about other areas of Colombia that’s all we could justify dedicating to Bogotá. Laura and Barry, an Irish couple we met in Brazil both teach there and were kind enough to let us stay with them. They live in Chapinero and have the most amazing view of the city which sits at an elevation of 2,640m, something I struggled to get my head around. It seemed so flat for something so high!

Wednesday was our only full day so we got up at 9ish and went to Masa for breakfast where I had an amazing almond croissant – my first of this trip. Then Amor Perfecto for coffee – my first decent coffee of this trip and to be fair it was more than decent, it was perfect.

We took a cable car up to Monserrate to check out the views of the city from up there then scooted back down to do a free walking tour with Beyond Colombia which was really interesting and informative.

The tour guide recommended a cafe called Loto Azul Vegetariano so we grabbed a bite in there which was interesting and tasty. Although we weren’t really sure what we were eating!

We had time to nip back to Laura and Barry’s building for a drink and a chat before we had to taxi it to the airport to fly to Medellin. So a flying visit to Bogotá but a very enjoyable one!
